GIS-Based Land Cover Analysis and Prediction Based on Open-Source Software and Data

Abstract The study aims at land cover prediction based on cellular automata and artificial neural network (CA-ANN) method implemented in the Methods Of Land Use Change Evaluation (MOLUSCE) tool. Tricity region neighbouring counties of Gdański Kartuzy were taken as research areas, coordination information environment (CORINE Cover, CLC, CLMS 2022) data for 2006, 2012 2018 used to analyse, simulate predict 2024, next reference year CORINE inventory. results revealed an increase surfaces, with highest value during period 2006–2012 (86.56 km 2 ). In total, 2006–2018, growth urbanised area amounted 95.37 . 2024 showed that surfaces increased by 9.19 , resulting a decline agricultural land.
